If you need a Psychological Assessment you've come to the right place, we love assessments!
But how do you know if you need an assessment or what assessment you are looking for? We understand that this can be an overwhelming process and we want to support you along the way. If at any stage you are feeling lost or unsure, give us a call or email and schedule a consult with an experienced clinician who can help you figure out what you need and how to best help you in meeting this need.
Psychological Assessments can have a range of purposes and names. They can be called testing, referred to as cognitive or autism or dyslexia assessments. These assessments may have been recommended to you as the next step by a Paediatrician, educational setting such as Kinder, School or University, or requested by your General Practitioner, Specialist or another Allied Health professional.
Typically our assessments include: an interview with the parent or person being assessed, data collection such as any previous reports by professionals, the formal testing itself and then feedback. During the formal testing/assessment phase we may administer one or more than one standardised measure and we may observe behaviour as well.
During the initial phase, we will discuss strengths and areas of need for the person being assessed, and from there your Psychologist will work with you to decide the formal tests needed to meet your needs. They will also discuss costs associated with the process, and get your approval before proceeding.
